Branches of Chemistry

Chemistry can be divided into the following eight branches.

  1. Physical Chemistry
  2. Inorganic Chemistry
  3. Organic Chemistry
  4. Analytical Chemistry
  5. Biochemistry
  6. Nuclear Chemistry
  7. Industrial Chemistry
  8. Environmental Chemistry

  • Physical Chemistry: Physical chemistry is a branch of chemistry which deals with principles, laws that describe matter and energy.
  • Inorganic Chemistry: Inorganic Chemistry is a branch of chemistry, which deals with the study of elements and compounds of elements other than carbon.
  • Organic Chemistry: The study of compounds of carbons, excluding the inorganic compounds such as CO, CO₂ , HCO , and CO , is called organic chemistry .
  • Analytical Chemistry: Analytical chemistry is a branch of chemistry, which determines the kinds and quantity of components in matter.
  • Biochemistry: Bio means life. Biochemistry is a branch of chemistry, which such as plants and animals. deals with the study of chemicals and their reactions in the living organism.
  • Nuclear Chemistry: The study of the changes occurring in the nuclei of the atoms accompanied by the emission of radiation is called nuclear chemistry
  • Industrial Chemistry: Industrial chemistry is the branch of chemistry, which deals with chemical processes of manufacturing of different industrial products.
  • Environmental Chemistry: Environmental chemistry is the study of the interaction of chemicals and their effects on environment. It also deals with the elimination of ill effects on environment such as air pollution, water pollution, etc.
